Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Great Homecare Services collects through this website, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written to be read, not to be waded through. If anything here is unclear, please call and ask.

Great Homecare Services Agency Ltd. is responsible for the information described here. We are a non-medical home care agency based in York, Ontario, serving Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area.

What we collect, and when

When you apply to work with us

Our careers form asks for your name, email address, phone number, the position you are applying for, your availability, your relevant experience, and any certifications you choose to list. You may also attach a CV.

We use this only to consider your application and to contact you about it. A CV you send us is not published anywhere. It is stored outside the website’s public media library, in a location configured to refuse direct requests, and can only be opened by a signed-in administrator of this site.

When you get in touch about care

If you call or email us, we keep what you tell us so that we can respond and, if you go ahead, arrange care. That usually means your name, your contact details, and a description of the support you are looking for.

Please share only what you are comfortable sharing at first contact. To arrange care we need to understand someone’s routines and preferences, but you decide how much detail to give and when. If you are enquiring on behalf of a family member, please make sure they are content for you to share their details with us.

Information collected automatically

Our web host keeps standard server logs, which record the address a request came from and what was requested. These are a normal part of running a website securely.

To stop automated abuse of our careers form, we briefly record that a submission was made from a particular connection. We do not store your IP address to do this: the address is converted into a one-way scrambled value that cannot be turned back into the original, and that value is discarded after a short period.

What we do not do

We do not sell your information, rent it, or trade it. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not send marketing email to people who have contacted us about care.

This website carries no analytics service, no advertising network, no social media tracking, and no third-party marketing tools.

Cookies

Browsing this site does not set any cookie of ours. The only cookies our own software sets are for administrators who sign in to manage the website, and those are necessary for signing in.

The map on our contact page

Our contact page includes a map of our office, provided by Google. When that page loads, Google receives your IP address and may set its own cookies in your browser. This is the only place on the site where anything is loaded from another company.

What Google does with that information is governed by Google’s own privacy policy, not this one. If you would rather not load it, the same address is written out in text beside the map, and every page of this site lists our address in the footer.

Who can see your information

Within Great Homecare Services, access is limited to the people who need it to do their job — responding to your enquiry, arranging care, or considering your application.

Outside the agency, your information is held by the company that hosts this website and our email provider, because that is where the website and our messages physically live. They act on our instructions and do not use your information for their own purposes.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it of us.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was given to us, or for as long as the law requires us to keep it. When it is no longer needed, we delete it. If you would like your information removed sooner, ask us and we will do it, unless we are required to keep it.

How we look after it

This website is served over an encrypted connection. Application records and attached CVs are stored so that they are not publicly reachable and are available only to signed-in administrators. Access to our systems is limited to people who need it.

No organization can promise that nothing will ever go wrong. What we can say is that we keep the amount of information we hold small, and we do not gather anything we do not have a reason for.

Your rights

Under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you, and how it has been used
  • correct anything that is wrong or out of date
  • delete information we no longer need to keep
  • withdraw your consent to our holding it, subject to legal requirements and to what it would mean for any care we are providing

Ask by phone or email and we will help. There is no charge, and you do not need to give a reason.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy question, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Asking us about privacy

Privacy questions and requests go to the same place as everything else — see the contact details in the footer of any page, or on our contact page. Please say that your message is about privacy so it reaches the right person quickly.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the date below. If a change is significant, we will say so here rather than leave you to spot it.
